How To Buy A Laptop - 7 Areas To Cut Costs
They have decided that a nice laptop with my laptop buying guide (link below) to buy, but you can not quite justify, or perhaps afford spending that much money for it.
Is there a way to cut costs a bit without too much?
Yes. You make compromises. But at this point, only you can decide where you are willing to skimp.
The $ 2000 laptop, that most of my customers end up buying the last 3 cut - 4 years, with satisfied computing on the road. OK, maybewe need to load Windows in 2 years point to the new power of the computer to acquire, but it can be done at least.
Here are 7 areas for vegetable knife, the cost of this new laptop should be addressed:
Overall, brand quality. Not a good idea in my book to skimp too much here. Witness my previous blog posts about the Sony VAIO. Others on the network have similar recommendations had been avoiding that one. Yet there is perhaps a way to get a good brand without paying topDollars. The Web offers tools to find the offers.
Processor. I choose is usually the fastest processor on the price-performance curve, which grows just where costs start faster than performance gain is sitting. You can cheat a bit, and hopefully still 3 years from the hardware. Not only on upgrading the processor later count - no matter what a salesman says.
RAM. This is not a bad place to save some money because you can easily upgradelater. Just do not go through the manufacturer, companies like Dell really sock it to you for upgrades. Anywhere you choose instead Crucial.com.
Tip: Depending on the pricing structure to get, say 512 MB 1 DIMM Now you can ADD 512MB DIMM 1 more later for a total of 1 GB and still get the 512, who came with him. 512 if you buy more than 2 DIMMs, you need to throw 1 or both DIMMs add more later, then value (maybe you can do it for a few dollars, eBay).
Screen. Older eyes might prefer the less expensive, lower resolution screen. Most laptops have 1 or maybe 2 native resolutions that look really good. These are very high resolutions, many over 40, especially women, find it difficult to read. Dell WSXGA is as good as the on-screen WSXGA + or WUXGA, but with lower resolution. Compare before you buy!
Hard Drive. Go smaller if you wish, but do not go slower. 7200 U / min or faster (not faster than thethis writing) is everything you want to remember too. End of discussion, listen not to pass on to others.
Video card. From a purely business use under Windows XP, you can save a little here. If you have a lot of work to do graphics, movies or expect that Windows Vista with the Aero-use interface, I would not recommend skimping here.
Warranty. This is your call. See my post on CompleteCare. Repairs are expensive, you usually insure themselves? Computer Hardwarehas the unfortunate habit of dying within 30 days after the warranty period - we call it Murphy's Law, if you wish.
Operating system may be an 8th Point for the reduction of costs to consider. Do not pay extra for Vista Ultimate if you are not going to need the features, and you do not save up Vista Basic and then wonder why you do not have the cool Aero interface. Here, too, to compare before you buy.
Oh, and here's the link to my laptop buying guide that I mentioned above. Click here.
TheBuying Guide is pretty well tuned for cost vs. performance, you can take the guide and the cost of paring knife 7 tips to see if you can come and with the perfect fit for you and your budget.
The choice is yours. Do yourself a favor and choose wisely! I hope that the resources I have given you here to help.
